Mental Health Australia commissioned research to investigate the mental health of three specific culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. These were the Italian, Turkish and Vietnamese communities. We are delighted to present the Final Report detailing the research findings and recommendations.  This research was conducted by Whereto, commissioned by Mental Health Australia and funded by the National Mental Health Commission.
This document is designed to improve assessment and treatment of mental illness through effective communication between a mental health practitioner and an individual through the engagement of an interpreter. Language can be a significant barrier for people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to access and use services.
AbstractThis paper presents a systematic review that assessed the different types of mental health programs and interventions available for young people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds in Australia, and identified core elements of practice for supporting the mental health of CALD youth, and key barriers that preclude CALD youth from engaging with mental health services.

This guide is designed to support providers of mental health care to be able to deliver their services in a gender affirming way to support the needs of trans and/or gender diverse people. 
Mental Health Australia has commissioned research to inform broader stigma and mental health research in CALD communities. This research focuses on Congolese, Arabic-speaking and Mandarin speaking Communities. A Report which details the research findings and recommendations is available. This research was undertaken by Western Sydney University.

While primarily targeted for schools in the Victorian context, the information and resources provided can be useful for service providers and community organisations in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people from refugee backgrounds
