Embrace Suicide Prevention Pilot

The Embrace Suicide Prevention Pilot (ESPP) aims to strengthen the capacity of the suicide prevention sectors to better support multicultural communities.
It expands the Embrace Framework for Mental Health in Multicultural Australia (Framework) to be inclusive of suicide prevention services, supporting services to enhance their cultural responsiveness when working with refugees, migrants and people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.
The pilot, delivered in partnership with Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA), is expected to be completed in December 2025.
Phase 1
In collaboration with SPA and R U OK? the Phase 1 of the ESPP sought to further inform best practice and increase sector and community capacity to prevent suicide in multicultural communities. Working together to:
- implement the Embrace Framework within R U OK?
- co-design resources with Arabic, Hindi and Vietnamese communities, that help to empower communities and provide a sustainable way for communities to begin conversations around suicide prevention
- develop a resource to support others when undertaking co-design with CALD communities in the context of suicide prevention, building capacity throughout the sector.

R U OK? has also developed a living blueprint to support others when undertaking co-design with CALD communities in the context of suicide prevention.
